A visit with Alpha Trion
[Whenever you feel you are able to stop by, Alpha Trion's library is always open. With his close proximity to Prima's quadrant, the many domed windows of his sitting areas make for bright, pleasant places to curl up with a good data pad and enjoy a relaxing read.
On this day in particular, he's had some of the window panes colored to filter in red, blue, and green light from Prima's glowing tower. It makes the atmosphere more festive, he is certain, and it also changes his routine a bit.
Plenty of acolytes are shuffling around him, some reading through books and others sorting data-pads, adding Trion's ever-increasing collection of books into a vast central reference archive. It's important to keep so much data organized, he knows that even with an army of Acolytes the work would never be done.
However, it does not stop him from trying.
He hears you as soon as you come in through the large, double-doors into the multi-story library. You'd find yourself approached, as well, though the Firstforged is still carrying a few documents as he does so, reluctant to part from his very enjoyable cataloging.]
Ah, there you are.
Please do pardon the mess, its inventory week and I already missed the first half of it due to...well. Unicron sending down a large, reality warping straw. It's been rather inconvenient.
Thankfully, its also gone. I would very much like to hear that story...
[He starts to trail off, before focusing back on the task at hand.]
And I will! But for right now, I think its important that you and I talk about other matters.
[He gestures towards a couch underneath one of the stained windows, and moves towards it to sit. The pile of documents go down beside him, and the other end of the couch is left open for you.]
I'm going to be going away for a while. Lunar cycles, likely, helping to expedite work on Cybertron.
Although this recent Pillar problem has proven to me that you Refugees are adaptable enough to overcome many odds, I still feel it is important that I ask.
Is there anything that you will need while I am gone?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The conversation will continue on from this point depending on how you respond below. Sae will be around to answer this log until the 1st of January, at which point anything not wrapped up will be summarized. Regardless of what turns the topic takes, Alpha Trion has gifts for his aligned:
Each Refugee will receive an instructional book/datapad on a subject of their choosing. As these are special, magical Alpha Trion books, they enhance the reader with a +1 to learning...
Meaning that your character will have a pretty good handle on whatever the subject is by the beginning of the new year. This is a great chance to learn something new!
[The library was beautiful, to say the least. But he beckoned to her to wait, all the same. If it was serious, or dangerous, best he went in first. Maybe he was being paranoid. But, better paranoia than to lose her.]
[He went in silently, as always, waiting without a word for the FirstForged to notice him.]
I know... some of the story. From another.
[He'd taken notes, after all, as he was asked to. But he falls silent as Trion speaks again. He blinks, pulling his head back like a startled bird.]
[What does he need...?]
What... what does that mean for me...?
[Given how different he was from the others here, after all.]
no subject
I missed utterly everything while we were gone, and my Acolytes...
Well. Lets just say they're not very social.
[Kagerou wasn't the most social of bots, himself, but he did have an optic for details. Alpha Trion appreciated that.]
As one of my initiates, I will be needing you to help take care of my temple. I will also be asking two other Refugees to initiate, so you will have help.
That reminds me...how are you coming with the bird project?
no subject
[Which would probably be easier, given how reserved he is. It would be better than speaking. He'd leave out less details.]
[His head tilts.]
Who else? And... how do I help?
[He shrugs a little, frowning.]
I meant to speak with Kay... but the Pillar... it changed a lot of things. And then I lost time... I don't know how that happened.
no subject
[Since the two of you seem to do the best work together. Its one of the reasons he's considering Kay as an Initiate.]
Kay. Rewind. Skyfire. Possibly Thundercracker, although he has been difficult to find.
As for how you can help, I would like you to work more on the Bird...and also help to keep this Temple safe should any Monsters breach the Haven.
Do you not remember anything that happened while the Pillar was down?
[This does concern him, as he knows how important memories are to Kagerou.]
no subject
[And then he looks startled, his wings flaring. Kay -- Kay would become like him? But then she couldn't go home. Could she? She'd be stuck here like himself...]
[... but she'd have family, wouldn't she? His shoulders hunch a little, arms folding over his chest.]
Kay. You... want to do this to her, too?
[Would she have to be alone? Could he be with her? So she wouldn't be scared--]
[He nods, though, hearing that. He can work on the bird. That's simple enough.]
I remember what happened when it was here. I remember... recovering from it. And then days are missing.
Maybe the Pillar caused it.
no subject
[His optics unfocus, as if looking far off. There were so many pathways that Kay and Kagerou could take from here, and none of them were certain.]
But so were you, when you made this decision. It has been a rocky journey, but I think it has done us both some good.
Ultimately, the choice will be hers. You are welcome to give her your opinion on it, however...so long as you do not break the request I made of you.
[The promise not to talk about the Binding Ceremony.]
Did those days happen after the Pillar had been destroyed, or before?
no subject
[Even if he doubts the request will be granted, he has to ask. For Kay's sake, he has to ask. She's the most important thing he has here -- she's family.]
[She's his world, in this place.]
Do you truly?
[Because he's still uncertain. There's a little shrug.] I haven't told anyone. I don't talk about any of this.
... After. I remember it being disposed of.
no subject
If....
If she says she would like you to be present, then...since you are already one of my Initiates, I...
I suppose I can see no reason why not.
[He's still a bit flustered, but he's willing to give it a try.]
Of course I do. You have been helping me with an important project, and you've been helping to keep order in the Haven as well. I've benefited...
And I think knowing that someone trusts you with the responsibilities has given you a bit more confidence. Unless I'm wrong about that?
[If so, he needed to give Kagerou more inspiration somehow.]
I'm sure you know that memories aren't supposed to go missing on their own, especially not to one of my Initiates. Would you like me to look into it before I go?
no subject
[He nods, wings slowly unfolding a little, as he relaxes.]
All right. Thank you.
[Confidence. Him? Could he really have something like that? He looks down at his hands.]
I don't know. I don't know if it's confidence or something else. So... I don't think I can answer that, yet.
[But maybe in time.]
Yes. But... I don't feel worried. Not about this. [Except he's unconsciously lifted a hand to touch the side of his head, running fingertips over the AI chip's location, without noticing.] How would you look?
no subject
[Because you have a lot to give in turn.]
You are my Initiate...so if I needed to see what you've been up to, I'd access our archives. However, I would not do this without your permission. It would be an invasion of privacy.
no subject
[Certainty. A soul. His partner -- the missing. Those are the only things that come to mind when someone asks what they can do for him.]
[Maybe it's naive... he doesn't know.]
Our archives? The book? Is that what you mean?
no subject
[He understands.]
But you take the past with you as you grow. Such is part of our duties as archivists--to not forget, and to learn from the past.
[From your time with Shadowmaru.]
The book...yes.
[The one he wrote in at the time of your Initiation. He knows you know what he means.]
Would you like for me to check it?
no subject
[But at least he's admitting this. That's progress, right?]
Forgetting isn't something I ever want to do. I'm not sure how to learn, but... I won't ever forget. Not one moment.
[He shifts a little. Part of him wonders, idly, just how much that book knows. How many embarrassing secrets are in it... but--]
It isn't trouble, is it? To check it?
no subject
If he ever does arrive, though, you MUST introduce me. I would be fascinated to meet someone so important to your development.
[It wasn't likely to happen, but still.]
It isn't trouble, no. Interpreting the data is where it gets tricky...
However, I can leave you a message on your link in a few days.
((OOC - which will probably say something like "The creeper's puppet drained the life given in trust. Does this make any sense to you?"))
no subject
[And fix what he still worries might be a mistake. Or something he has to make amends for.]
[He nods a little.]
I -- thank you. I'll look for it.
((ooc - "NO :C" but that sounds good c: ))
It takes her a couple of hours but she gets there. Eventually.
The tiny stitchpunk wiggles under the door and walks cautiously into the library. While she knows that she's not in any real danger here, it's always possible that one robot might end up making one unfortunate misstep. Four's been stepped on enough thank you very much.
Four's eyes light up when Alpha Trion appears, and she follows him eagerly to the couch. Like a good girl, she sits on the couch arm, staring up at him with an avid interest.
In order to reply, she pulls out her device.]
I don't really need anything. Except maybe a new method of transportation.
But why are you going away? Don't you like it here?
no subject
[He's impressed by how well you get around already, but if it helps...]
I like it here a great deal.
Too much, really, as sometimes my brothers and sisters tease that its hard to separate me from my books. [He chuckles.] However, I know I am needed elsewhere. In order to prevent other incursions like the Pillar, we're going to try to finish Cybertron.
no subject
[Four's eyes flicker with confusion as she peers up at the Firstforged. Her little fingers click together as she struggles to make sense of what Alpha Trion just said. Eventually, she has to ask.]
What do you mean by "finish" Cybertron? There is a whole planet out there, right?
[Four suddenly has a vision of half a Cybertron, floating around in space...]
no subject
[He trails off, as that is an era of time when he did not exist, which means it is both fascinating to him and also a little difficult to comprehend.]
However, he cannot return until it is ready for him to inhabit the Core, and as long as he is not here then Unicron is a threat.
What worries me the most is that the chaos-bringer is becoming more active, now, wheras we do not know when Primus will return. We will have to do what we can, in the meantime.
no subject
Finding where he needs to go is a simple matter of elimination; Trion wasn't with the felines so he was either in the library or in his own quarters. Thankfully it was the library... and he doesn't have to navigate the maze.
Though he does feel like a bit of a party crasher.
He pulls out a datastick.]
Trion. I'm afraid I'm not going to be staying in the Haven for much longer myself. So I need to know who I ought to leave this with.
You asked about literature and history from my world; I'm making good on that before I go. This is everything I can remember, up to the final battle between the Autobots and Decepticons.
no subject
...
You are leaving?
[He glances down to your Glyph, checking...]
Is Solus sending you on a mission?
[Still, he reaches out to take the stick, absent-mindedly also taking hold of a spare datapad from a nearby shelf to upload the contents into. This is fascinating to him.]
no subject
You noticed. No. This is something I'm doing for myself. I... considered our conversation, about the potential for changing things. And about my change when the pillar showed up.
I might do more good working from the shadows, as it were.
Though I am sorry I won't be able to help out with your cats.
[Even if Solus found him taking care of them silly in the first place.]
no subject
[Trion might look a bit alarmed for a moment.]
Surely you do not intend to head for the badlands? There are other, less painful ways to die you know.
no subject
[Barricade can't bring himself to do that. He's not so fresh from that mess in Chicago to do that.]
But there is a place outside of the Haven that I know of, where I can work without interfering with things here too much... and without anything horrible interfering with me.
no subject
[He has a frown on, but it is a worried frown. He cares for your well being, after all.]
We have not had any contact with that outpost since they left...
[The frown stays, but he does shift, really thinking about what Barricade is saying.]
As such, I cannot allow you to go without adequate supplies.
[The frown turns into a bit of a smile, as he has every intention of providing those to you.]
no subject
[And he'd had to do the same. To keep them off the radar... and to keep anyone else from finding it just to drag their friends back to the Haven.
He pauses then, giving Alpha Trion a slightly sly look. Whatever are you up to?]
Dare I ask what sort of supplies?
no subject
[If they were even alive. It often worried him.]
A crate of energon cubes, some emergency communications equipment, a few tools, and a sledge to move them on. Nothing extravagant.
[At least, not until you see the sledge. If you're going out, it might as well be in style.]
no subject
[With people like Tarn and Overlord, the centipedes and pillars were almost better. Almost.]
Supplies that will be quite welcome. Mm, and a way to carry them besides using my fighter. You're going to spoil me at this rate, extravagant or no.
no subject
[After all, if they did not get Cybertron finished then Unicron would come through...at which point no amount of order in the Haven would help.]
You are welcome to use your fighter if you prefer. I might be able to outfit the sledge for remote control...
But I could not guarantee how well that would work far from the Haven.
no subject
[Not that the Refugees' infighting makes them helpful to the whole 'stopping Unicron' thing, but still.]
Don't worry, I can figure out a way to tow the ship. Had to when the poor thing was still broken down.
no subject
[The way he smiles, he is kidding...but he does want you to know that you have value in your own right.]
Then the only thing left to give to you is my luck.
no subject
I'm afraid the one Initiation is enough for now. Much as I like you and all.
[Let's face it, being smacked with a Hammer is not an experience to be repeated.]
Feel like I should be the one wishing you luck. I've got the easy part myself, for now.
no subject
[Ah, but you wouldn't miss it for the world, would you?]
no subject
Of course. What is it?
no subject
[A cat.]
He would not be easy to console if you left, and...whatever fate awaits you, he'll be a good companion.
no subject
You'll have to excuse my informality but darlin' you are too good to me. And I'd hate to leave Max inconsolable. The extra company will be more than welcome... and I'm sure Rumble won't mind a new friend either.
... Thank you, Alpha Trion. Never had dealings with the FirstForged before coming here, but I can tell you this. Between you and Solus, I've met some mighty fine examples of demigods, and I'm glad for the opportunity.
no subject
When he gets there he carefully avoids sitting... It's not that he's paranoid, it's just that he's paranoid.]
So you're... leaving.
Uh... I. Well, I don't really need anything, sir. I'm sure you have others that would be more useful to you.
no subject
Just after you've returned, I notice...
Have you been feeling alright?
[He does give up on hoping you'll sit with him, but he still feels a parental concern for you.]
no subject
[He fidgets slightly.]
I mean, I feel about the same as I always have... Should I feel any different?
no subject
Plus, I was worried about your cravings...have they been manageable?
no subject
But my diet. Uh, it's been manageable, I've got the substitute... It's not quite like the real stuff, but it works.
[He pauses for a moment, wings perking.]
I'm not going to eat anyone! I miss real power cores, but I'm not going to eat anyone...
no subject
If I didn't, you wouldn't be here to tell me about it now.
Mostly, I just want to know if you're going to be alright while I am gone, and if there is anything that I can do to improve your time here.
no subject
[That isn't comforting at all.]
I don't think there's anything you can do, sir. I'm sure helping anyone that isn't me would be a better use of your time.
